Sunday's Coming ~ May 31

Summer Worship Times ~ 9:00 & 10:20 a.m. This Sunday we continue our summer worship times. We have two services with starting times at 9:00 a.m. and 10:20 a.m.  There will not be Children & Worship or Youth and Children’s Sunday School this week.

Hi-Fi Bulletin Cover lo-resThis week is the second Sunday in our summer worship series "Hi-Fi." Last week we looked at Joel and the message God had for the people of Israel and for us through that prophet. This week we'll look at another "J" prophet - Jonah.

The message we found in Joel was about those times in our lives when we find ourselves being eaten up by adversity and when God seems distant. The message we find in Jonah is about those times in our lives when we find ourselves running from God - running in a race we cannot win.

And though we will learn a few lessons this week from the first chapter of Jonah, the bottom line for today is simply this: you can run from God, but you can't outrun God. Many have tried and many have failed. When you put God in the rear view mirror of your life, you are running a race you just can't win.

And as Jonah found out, and the people of Nineveh found out, and all the runners in human history found out, even when you run from God, He will wait for you. He will chase you. He will pursue you. He will set events in motion that work toward bringing you back to Him.

As Christians, we call this love. And that's exactly the message we see in the prophet Jonah.
